The simplified order: novels only
If you want the main experience without getting lost, this is the list. The order is publication order — and that is already chronological within the story.
| # | Title (Brazil) | Original | Year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shatter Me (Estilhaça-me) | Shatter Me | 2011 |
| 2 | Unravel Me (Liberta-me) | Unravel Me | 2013 |
| 3 | Ignite Me (Incendeia-me) | Ignite Me | 2014 |
| 4 | Restore Me (Restaura-me) | Restore Me | 2018 |
| 5 | Defy Me (Desafia-me) | Defy Me | 2019 |
| 6 | Imagine Me (Imagina-me) | Imagine Me | 2020 |
The six main volumes of the series, with the titles used in Brazil by Universo dos Livros.
Reading just these six volumes works: Juliette's plot begins and ends within them. It is the path we recommend for anyone who has never read anything by Tahereh Mafi.
The complete order: novels + novellas
The five novellas are short works told by other characters. None of them invents a side plot: they fill in what happened during the gaps and shift the point of view of someone you thought you already knew.
| Order | Title | Type | Narrator / where it fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shatter Me | Novel | Juliette — it all begins |
| 1.5 | Destroy Me | Novella | Warner — between books 1 and 2 |
| 2 | Unravel Me | Novel | Juliette |
| 2.5 | Fracture Me | Novella | Adam — between books 2 and 3 |
| 3 | Ignite Me | Novel | Juliette |
| 4 | Restore Me | Novel | Juliette |
| 4.5 | Shadow Me | Novella | Kenji — during book 4 |
| 5 | Defy Me | Novel | Juliette |
| 5.5 | Reveal Me | Novella | Kenji — between books 5 and 6 |
| 6 | Imagine Me | Novel | Juliette — the outcome |
| 6.5 | Believe Me | Novella | closing of the main series |
The numbers with a decimal mark the novellas: they go in the middle of the sequence, not after the end.
Where the Brazilian compilations fit
In Brazil, Universo dos Livros did not publish each novella separately: it gathered the pairs into volumes of their own. That confuses anyone who sees three fewer books on the shelf and thinks they missed one.
- Unite Me (Unifica-me) (vols. 1.5 and 2.5) — gathers the novellas Destroy Me and Fracture Me, plus Juliette's journal.
- Find Me (Decifra-me) (vols. 4.5 and 5.5) — gathers Shadow Me and Reveal Me, the two novellas narrated by Kenji.
- Believe Me (Aceita-me) — the final novella of the main series, published as a single volume.
In other words: anyone who already has Unite Me and Find Me on the shelf already has four of the five novellas. The fifth is Believe Me.
And the new phase of the series?
In 2025, the saga gained a second phase — published in the original as Shatter Me: The New Republic — set ten years after the known events, with James Anderson and Rosabelle Wolff at the center. The third volume, Escape Me, arrived in September 2026.
Its order is publication order: Watch Me (2025), Release Me (2026) and Escape Me (2026). The first two already have Brazilian titles; the third does not yet.
The recommendation is simple and comes from the material itself: finish the main series first. The new phase does not tell the same story, but it depends on you knowing who is who — and where that world ended up.
Where to start today
Start with the first novel, Shatter Me, and follow the simplified order. If after the third volume you want to dive in for good, switch to the complete list and slot the novellas in — they are short, and they change whose voice you are reading.
And if you got here because you want something similar after finishing, our guide to books for fans of Shatter Me continues the conversation.
About the author: she also publishes an independent fantasy line, This Woven Kingdom, which is the subject of our article on whether it is worth reading after Shatter Me.

Frequently asked questions
How many books are in the Shatter Me saga?
Six main novels and five novellas. In total, eleven works — not counting the new phase, which began in 2025.
Can I skip the novellas?
You can. The six novels close Juliette's story. What you lose are points of view (Warner, Adam and Kenji) and some events that happen off the page.
Do the novellas have a Brazilian edition?
Yes, through Universo dos Livros: Unite Me gathers Destroy Me and Fracture Me, Find Me gathers Shadow Me and Reveal Me, and Believe Me is the final novella published separately.
In what order do I read the new phase?
Watch Me (2025), Release Me (2026) and Escape Me (2026) — after finishing the main series.
