What Off Campus is

Off Campus is Elle Kennedy's campus romance series, set at Briar University and centered on a group of friends who play hockey. Each volume follows a different couple, and the books cross over in time and space — same parties, same house, same friends.

The first book, The Deal (2015), is what built the series' reputation: a tutoring arrangement that turns into a romance, with humor and personal drama in measured doses.

The series is published in Brazil by Paralela, and the Brazilian titles follow the same logic as the originals — each book, one couple.

The books in order

The recommended order is publication order. The books are standalone in the sense that each couple closes its own story, but the characters cross over — and reading in sequence makes better use of the appearances.

#OriginalBrazilYearMain couple
1The DealThe Deal (O Acordo)2015Hannah Wells × Garrett Graham
2The MistakeThe Mistake (O Erro)2015John Logan × Grace Ivers

4The GoalThe Goal (A Conquista)2016John Tucker × Sabrina James
5The LegacyThe Legacy (O Legado)2021Four novellas, four couples

The Legacy (2021) is a collection of four novellas, set three years after graduation, with four different couples.

Who the couples are

Each couple has its own axis of similarity with the previous one, and a clear difference:

  • Hannah × Garrett (The Deal): axis of similarity — the trade of favors that becomes feeling; difference — the pressure comes from academic performance, not sport.
  • Logan × Grace (The Mistake): axis — shyness and life off the field; difference — the conflict is one of consequence, not of arrangement.
  • Dean × Allie (The Score): axis — friendship turning into something else; difference — the romance is born of vulnerability, not rivalry.
  • Tucker × Sabrina (The Goal): axis — responsibility and choice; difference — the relationship is built around a family bond.

The four couples of The Legacy close out the series with the friends already grown up — it is the most collective volume of the five.

What the TV series is

Off Campus is an Amazon MGM Studios production for Prime Video, created by Louisa Levy, with Elle Kennedy among the producers. The production order went out on October 1, 2024, and filming took place in Vancouver between June and October 2025.

The first season, with eight episodes, premiered on May 13, 2026 and is based on The Deal — that is, it adapts the first book, with Hannah (Ella Bright) and Garrett (Belmont Cameli) at the center.

The series was renewed for a second season even before the premiere — on February 12, 2026 — and on May 28, 2026, Amazon announced that season 2 will focus on Dean and Allie, the couple from The Score.

Book vs. adaptation

The differences are ones of selection, not of essence. Season 1 keeps the arrangement at its core — Hannah tutors Garrett in exchange for tips on winning over his crush — and keeps the friend group, but compresses events and adjusts motivations to fit into eight episodes.

One of the most visible changes is Justin Kohl: in the adaptation, the character was tied to Briar University's music scene, unlike the original books, according to Quem's coverage.

The book's advantage remains the interior: Off Campus alternates between the two characters' points of view, and the series has to translate that access to thought into scenes — which naturally shortens the buildup of trust.

If you want to compare directly, the order is to watch season 1 and then read The Deal: the same arc, in two different media.

What to watch next

Within the franchise, there is only Off Campus: season 2 is confirmed, but has no date. No film or spin-off series has been announced — so after episode eight, the next step in the story is reading.

The most direct path depends on your goal: if you want to get ahead of season 2, read The Score (the Dean × Allie couple is the announced theme); if you want to keep pace with the series, read The Deal first and then The Mistake.

And if what you liked was the ground — campus romance with sport — why so many hockey romances show up on BookTok explains why this subgenre is circulating so much.

Where to find the books

In Brazil, the five volumes are published by Paralela: The Deal (translated by Juliana Romeiro, ISBN 9788584390274), The Mistake, The Score, The Goal and The Legacy. There is also the Unlikely Loves box set, with new covers, which entered the bestseller lists in May 2026.

As for the series: Off Campus is available on Prime Video, with the first season complete in eight episodes.

And, as a market record: The Deal returned to the Nielsen-PublishNews lists in 2026 — in the week of August 17 to 23, the volume sold 2,665 copies and appeared at number 10 on the overall ranking, and PublishNews noted that the title “regained momentum driven by the reader community on TikTok” in July of that year.
